EATING OUT
The best place to experience Polish cuisine are the local restaurants and cafe bars where upon entering just the smell of food cooking gets your mouth watering.
With dishes like pierogi (steaming hot small dumplings stuffed with various fillings) and gołąbki ( savoury meat and rice wrapped in young tender cabbage leaves covered with a rich tomato or mushroom hot gravy sauce) simple fare but delicious!
There are numerous restaurants and cafe bars ranging from the local milk bars in smaller towns to top class 5 star restaurants in the cities such as Gdansk. Of course for fast food fans there are all the main players such as McDonalds, KFC, Burger King, Dominoes Pizza etc.
Wherever you eat out nearly all the restaurants and cafe bars have an English menu and most of the staff speak English.
As for prices a half litre of beer is between £1.50 and £2.20 and spirits a single ranging from £1.10 and £1.90 depending on where you are and if you eat where the locals eat then you can get a delicious 3 course meal with a glass of beer or wine well under £20, excellent value for money!
